This is my first blog and I have been struggling with what to write. I have come up blank except to offer an apology to anyone who has purchased my book, Beach Bums. I realize now, that although I hired a proofreader/editor, there are still warts on my prose (and probably in this blog). I am working with the editor to rectify and republish, but as you may have noted from my title page I am broke and struggling to pay bills.. I’m not looking for sympathy, but I do want to stress that when I say “struggling to pay bills” I’m NOT talking about credit cards or car payments- I mean water and electric. So while my editor is going over the book I will still need to have it formatted again, which costs money.
I offer this blog or post or whatever it’s called as an assurance that I did not take writing my book lightly and I will correct what needs to be corrected as soon as possible. The artist in me is hurt, but the consumer in me says, “Yo bitch if you want people to pay you it needs to be right.”
I agree with this thought process- I do. That said people of Amazon can be very, very mean. Someone going by the handle of Mr. Schnoodle emailed me to ask if English was my primary language. Actually, the exact quote was, “ Is English a primary language?”. I emailed her back and asked her to clarify. She has yet to respond, I assume she meant to ask if English were my primary language. If you’re going to bust someone on typos via written word I think you should be clear and typo free on said scathing email.
So for those of you who took the time to read my book and saw that one of my character’s was, ”Goin’ for his gum” instead of gun. I am sorry. Self publishing is a lonely , thankless business, but AS GOD AS MY WITLESS I shall fix the wrongs, un-splice the spliced, smash unnecessary apostrophes and ensure, assure and reassure that my character’s are holding revolvers not Wrigley’s !!
